Every two years we take a group of students to Senegal. The trip is a life changing experience for all involved. We have gone four times, in 2011, 2013, 2016, and 2018.
We are also collecting interest from adults for chaperones and other roles, click here to learn more.
We are finishing construction of the Lambaye Learning Center and the students going on this trip will be attending the grand opening of the center! The trip is planned for MHS February Break, 2020.
The trip takes place over February break every two years. We need to know who is going as soon as possible so that we can properly prepare and get everyone ready with supplies, vaccinations, information, etc. We travel by plane to Dakar and then by bus to Lambaye and other locations within Senegal. The trip last about 10 days and is an unforgettable and life changing experience for all.
More information about specific dates and times will be forthcoming. Additionally, once the final group going on the trip has been confirmed, we will have multiple meetings with both parents and students to answer any and all questions.
The trip is estimated to cost about $3,500-4,000 per traveler. A deposit will be due before the end of October. We will have an exact figure once the number of students going is determined. We are aiming to take between 25 and 30 students but based on interest and other factors that could go up or down. The price though should be within $200-300 of the estimate.
This trip is organized by Students for Senegal Inc. which works with third party travel agencies to plan the trip and make reservations. No other organization including the Mamaroneck Union Free School District or any of its schools is involved in the trip in any capacity.
