Strides for Senegal
Expand Access to Education in Senegal.
That is our mission and what over 800 U.S. high school students have been working toward for more than 15 years. Partnering closely with the community of Lambaye, our students learn firsthand what resources make the biggest difference for local children. On our 2025 service trip this past February, the community identified three immediate needs: reliable shoes for students walking long distances to school, desperately needed school supplies to support learning in under-resourced classrooms, and sports equipment to promote physical activity, teamwork, and joy.
This year, our seventh Strides for Senegal Village of Mamaroneck Turkey Trot Fundraiser on November 22rd 2026 is dedicated to raising the funds required to meet these needs.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward tangible outcomes:
👟 - Supplying hundreds of pairs of durable shoes so children can attend school comfortably and consistently.
📙 ✏️ - Providing notebooks, pens, backpacks, and learning materials that enable teachers and students to thrive in the classroom.
⚽️ - Equipping schools with soccer balls, nets, and other athletic gear to support extracurricular activities that build confidence and community.
Later this year, another group of students will return to Lambaye to personally deliver these supplies and continue building long-term, sustainable partnerships with the schools and families they serve.

Huge thank you to our partners for over 7 years the Village of Mamaroneck Recreation Department! We can’t wait to join them again for their 60th Turkey Trot!
Why We Run
From English class to the soccer field!
MHS students brought shoes, books and more to Lambaye in February 2018!
Why We Are Running
On our most recent trip to Senegal, in February, 2025, students from MHS were greeted by over 2000 students in Lambaye, Senegal, many of whom walked over 7 miles to greet us.
The few of them who had shoes had ones that were torn and in tatters. We vowed that we would make sure each student in Lambaye had a pair of shoes next time we came. Together, we can make this happen!
Sign up by scrolling down and following the instructions. If you would like to make a donation to our general fund to support our work but do not want to race, click here.
For less than $10 we can provide a pair of shoes to a student in Senegal.
